The seat itself is quite comfortable for a side chair. The padding is good and strong enough. The really big problem is the assembly, which was extremely difficult. This was mainly due to poor quality control related to hole mismatch and part mismatch. There was also an issue that one leg was slightly shorter than the others, but it wasn't noticeable when the chair was on carpet. I understand that my total score is not the average of all scores, but this is due to quality control. The problems and problems of assembly were so overshadowed that considerable shifting and jolting was required to align all the parts enough to twist them together. It looked a little crooked after assembly, but when you sit in it feels stable. I've been collecting things (furniture, children's toys etc) for 50 years and the only time I've had a major problem was at the Little Tykes Theater in the 1980's. If the chair were fully assembled for the same price, yes, but as it is I cannot in good conscience recommend this chair.
