Review on πŸ“» BaoFeng UV-82C Dual-Band FM Ham Two-Way Radio with Battery, Earpiece, Antenna, Charger - Enhanced Performance and Versatility by Paul Evangelista

I am very happy with the quality and performance of the UV-82C radio

I am very satisfied with the quality and performance of the UV-82S radio. I also have Baofeng UV-5RA and Baofeng BF-HPF8. Of the three models, the UV-82C has the highest build quality and appears to be quite strong in communication. While not quite up to the build standards of my Yaesu FT-60R, it comes very close and is less than 1/3 the price. For the new budget ham radio, the UV-82C receives and transmits (RX/TX) on the 2m and 70cm amateur bands, as well as the MURS, FRS and GMRS frequencies. FCC Part 90 certification is useful when using the radio for commercial purposes. It first disables VFO mode (frequency mode) and leaves the radio in memory mode (channel mode) only. However, if you want to use the VFO mode, you can use the "Daily Build" version of the free CHIRP software to enable the VFO mode. To enable VFO mode, load the radio into CHIRP and check the Settings > Advanced Settings > VFO/MR Switching box. Once you've programmed the radio via CHIRP and loaded your settings, you have memory and frequency modes and can switch between them by holding the MENU button and turning on the radio. In order to legally use this radio, you must purchase a GMRS license. by the Federal Communications Commission, which applies to "your entire family". To use two ham bands (2m and 70cm) you must have a valid ham technician license. All FRS and MURS (walkie-talkie) frequencies are present and can be used in an emergency, although the radio is too powerful to legally use these bands for non-emergency purposes. As I mentioned earlier, I have experimented with several Baofengs and have found that the UV-82C (or any version of the UV-82) is superior to the TX/RX in construction and quality. Highly recommended for those looking for a ham radio license and cannot afford a more expensive HT radio (like the excellent Yaesu RT-60R).
