Excellent after-sales service in the event of a dead battery

I love the ease of use to program and control this radio. It's versatile and easy to carry. However, I ran out of battery on this thing a little over two months after purchasing it (I used it once a week). I immediately notified BTECH and showed them my Revain account. No questions asked, they sent me a new battery within days. It's clear that this company stands behind their products. You won't see that anymore. I was very happy to see it here.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Ease of maintenance

Great for the fire department.

Battery life matches the price. Usually a day and a half or so, fast charging. Larger batteries are available and they are worth the price. Programming requires a cable and is locked in transmit mode until you program it. I use it as a radio for our local fire department, it picks up transmissions well without much tweaking. The speaker could have been louder, but it is significantly louder than the UV-5R. He conveys clearly. My only concern is that the screws on the belt clip come loose…

Baofeng UV82C - CB and radio equipment

Worth every penny, no problem with it, I don't fight with it, I only get RT Systems software, very easy to program. Can be opened up for Ham use or left untouched for Part 90. Very versatile HT and best of all it monitors two channels at once! No Motorola buzzes when checking the priority channel. It's also affordable, with the Motorola HT costing a few hundred or a few thousand dollars. The only bad thing is their sink uses AAA batteries instead of AA as most incidents use AA batteries and not

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • There are flaws

Problems with headphones

I really wanted this radio to please, especially since it can listen to 2 frequencies at the same time and has a double PTT. Unfortunately my use requires headphones and there appears to be an issue with the audio design of this headphone radio. There was an unbearably loud popping sound in the headset or earphones when turning on the radio, changing channels, or when the radio begins to receive a broadcast. This makes it impossible to use with a headset or headphones if you value your hearing.

Pros
  • Giving pleasure
Cons
  • Little things

Exceptional performance at any price

This radio is the next step in the transition from the GMRS environment to the HAM technician class. You can enable/disable transmit for UHF or VHF so I can use it for GMRS and not worry about accidentally hitting VHF. I can control the local HAM network and when I get my technical license soon I hope to be able to participate in this network. In the meantime, I'm on the GMRS network almost every evening. These radios are a great way to get into GMRS and amateur radio at an affordable entry…

Baofeng approaching UV-82C

When the add-on said the UV-82C was a commercial radio I had to buy and test it. The radio passed the 5-foot drop test. 3 times. The radio continued to work and nothing shattered when it hit the tiled floor. I managed to get scratches on the shop window. But for a cheap radio, this is a solid radio. It's nice to see that the side cover is easy to replace. I connected the radio to a service monitor and found the unwanted emissions to be just as good as my APX7000 on VHF. UHF was also in…

Warning if you want to use the 90.1 or 90.3MHz FM transmit function

Over the past five years I have had various models of UV82 series radios: UV-82, UV- 82X and UV-82C. One of the main reasons for buying this radio is that you can use the convenient FM radio function. I love walking around with the radio and controlling the ham radio repeaters while listening to music on an FM broadcast. The radio will automatically switch to a VHF/UHF repeater when it detects activity (even if it's just ker chunking or a station ID) and then switch back to FM radio, after…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Great price

I am very happy with the quality and performance of the UV-82C radio

I am very satisfied with the quality and performance of the UV-82S radio. I also have Baofeng UV-5RA and Baofeng BF-HPF8. Of the three models, the UV-82C has the highest build quality and appears to be quite strong in communication. While not quite up to the build standards of my Yaesu FT-60R, it comes very close and is less than 1/3 the price. For the new budget ham radio, the UV-82C receives and transmits (RX/TX) on the 2m and 70cm amateur bands, as well as the MURS, FRS and GMRS frequencies.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Difficult to say

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I usually never rate anything, but I had to rate this. For anyone having trouble with these walkie-talkies, I have ordered, programmed, and deployed over a hundred of these walkie-talkies (Model 82C) for our organization. The sound is clear, the range is excellent and tests show that the radios are not up to specification. Out of about a hundred radios purchased, ONLY TWO radios were broken right out of the box. They worked great but faced the same problem. The sound was always at the highest…
