Exceptional performance at any price

This radio is the next step in the transition from the GMRS environment to the HAM technician class. You can enable/disable transmit for UHF or VHF so I can use it for GMRS and not worry about accidentally hitting VHF. I can control the local HAM network and when I get my technical license soon I hope to be able to participate in this network. In the meantime, I'm on the GMRS network almost every evening. These radios are a great way to get into GMRS and amateur radio at an affordable entry level. I am defiantly pleased with this radio and the Btech GMRS V-1. We were able to check into the NET once from the cell phone stand at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to Sassafras Mountain Relay. 86 miles of highway, over 50 miles line of sight from a 5 watt portable radio. and thanks to the network of repeaters near me, we can communicate across the region. Many other radios can do this too, but this is exceptional performance at this price point. In fact, it is an exceptional achievement at any cost. Pictured is my wife holding a BTech GMRS radio station at the airport following our contact with Sassafras.
