Baofeng approaching UV-82C

When the add-on said the UV-82C was a commercial radio I had to buy and test it. The radio passed the 5-foot drop test. 3 times. The radio continued to work and nothing shattered when it hit the tiled floor. I managed to get scratches on the shop window. But for a cheap radio, this is a solid radio. It's nice to see that the side cover is easy to replace. I connected the radio to a service monitor and found the unwanted emissions to be just as good as my APX7000 on VHF. UHF was also in particular. The output power was 0.3 W on both bands. The test receipt was better than the specs. The audio output is good and loud for a small radio. Below are the shortcomings that need to be fixed for the next version or software fixes to make it a fully commercial radio. Add 2-tone decoding function for small rural fire stations to use2. Get rid of the flashlight or provide an option to turn off the light.3. Add the ability to disable and delete the second display. This can be confusing for rental users.4. Eliminate the rattling of battery release buttons. It just ruins the optics of the radio. There is a bug in the radio firmware. Pressing and activating the Emergency button will put the radio in transmit mode after the reset for just enough time to turn on the repeater. All in all a good radio for the price.
