Revainrating 3 out of 5

adds crystal clear DD 5.1 surround sound to Windows 10

Although the instructions are useless, I got it up and running in an hour+ with a Windows 10 Home Premium laptop that only had stereo sound. This notebook is not used in the target configuration. Destination is my desktop: - Video NAS (12TB, 1000+ MPG files with DD 5.1 audio streams) - Intel z8350 based system with WIndows 10 hme Premium ($105) - VLC VideoLan (unabridged version M$ , but original, with forced DD-5.1 and forced S/P-DIF enabled) - HDMI (video) + S/P-DIF assigned audio to Sony A/V receiver - TCL 40" HDMI monitor and speaker system Cambridge Labs, Soundworks 5.1 I will also be testing later this month on a home theater with a Marantz A/V receiver (7.1 upmix on an Altec-Lansing A10 VoTT, 17 channel commercial speaker system) and a 96" screen. I wouldn't do it if it wasn't for the sound quality.

Pros
  • USB audio and USB audio controller. It supports 32kbps, 44.1kHz. (two of which require driver or software support) and a sample rate of 48kHz for digital recording, 48kHz for digital audio playback. In digital playback mode, it receives audio streams from PC via USB interface and transmits audio data according to consumer interface standards AESEBU, IEC60958, SPDIF. Only RL channel PCM audio in 5.1 channel can be transmitted in digital playback mode.
Cons
  • There are disadvantages
