Overall, I am pleased with the SC300i. However, it's taken me a bit of work to get there! My primary need for this purchase was for hitting golf balls into my home golf net. When I first worked with the SC300i, only about 1 or 2 of every 5 shots would register. Every time it didn't, it would display '-- --'. When I contacted technical support at Voice Caddie, all they could suggest was to do a factory reset on the unit. I did this, but as expected, it changed nothing. My impression was that the helpdesk folks didn't know what the '-- --' code meant either!I won't bore you with all the things I tried, but I finally figured out the problem. The ball I use on the course is the TaylorMade TP5 Pix.the ball with the triangles on it. When I finally tried using a standard white ball, virtually every hit registered correctly. There apparently is something about the triangles on the 'Pix' ball that confuses the dickens out of the SC300i. Anyway, problem solved.The cell phone app, where you can record video of your swing while including the statistics, is quite a good idea. It is a bit of a hassle to get everything installed and linked, but I was able to get some useful help from this feature. That said, I'd label the app as 'rough', with lots of room for improvement. I can't for the life of me understand the need to sign into an online account for the cell phone app each time you start it up. That is a problem for me, as I don't have a data plan on my cell phone. I can only hook it up to the internet at home using a wifi connection. That eliminates the possibility of my using the app at a driving range or anywhere away from home. The biggest missing feature is the ability to download the session data from the cell phone to my laptop computer. I've got lots of storage available there, but precious little on my cell phone. I have to delete old data to make room for new.all my history is lost for each session because of this.Regardless of the weak app, it is a step in the right direction, and the SC300i itself is proving to be very helpful to my golf game. I would make this purchase again.
