I used it the first time using the slow cooker - there was a bunch of peppers and a bay leaf in the ball of spices. There was more than enough room to add more spices if the recipe called for it. I only made meals for two so the top was sticking out above the ingredients and liquid but at least the spices were well soaked. It stayed closed the entire time, which is great, but sometimes the hook wouldn't stay on the hook and often fell into the soup - it's just that there's nothing small enough about the slow cooker to catch a small hook - but it is easy enough to hook. catch with a spoon. Overall I'm satisfied, although it's a little more than I expected. I was hoping to use it for tea as well, but I usually only make one serving in a mug or cup and that would be more ideal for brewing tea.
