I wasn't sure about this little guy when I ordered him. It has a very simple and almost robotic look, suggesting that it might not be of very good quality. I travel a lot during the weekdays and often sleep in a converted van rather than a motel room. I was looking for a small tabletop radio that was uncomplicated and could keep me up late with late night talk shows without having to use my van's on-board radio and running the risk of draining my battery. It is powered by four "C" elements and operates at low volume. for a very long time. SLEEP mode is very convenient. I set it to 60 minutes every night and usually sleep soundly before it shuts off. Excellent. Aside from the presets, bass boost, weather band and scan function, the designers of this little setup have mercifully removed all the other bells and whistles found on other radios. You know, all those things you never use anyway. The speaker is not a monster. It's not a match for my Model One home radio, but it shouldn't be. A very nice device that will last you for a very long time (until you drop it!).
