Works perfectly!
I have a Brother machine from the 1950s and I sew a lot with it. This machine does not have a zig zag setting, so the needle must be passed through the small round hole in the pawl seat. I came across these Singer Regular Point Universal Machine Needles and decided to give them a try. They appear to have a large taper at the tip, making the hole in the plate "bigger"! They work fine.
