I bought this to be more environmentally friendly and to avoid running out of filters/repurchasing at a bad time. 4 cup filters are harder to find than traditional 10 cup filters. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that. I found it TOO SMALL. Apparently it works fine. The bottom is solid plastic, not mesh. The basket is smaller than all paper filters, so there is a gap between the filter and the inner brew basket. Maybe that's better? I only ever make "2 cups" at a time, but no problem so far. Its small handle only rests on one side of the basket, if you accidentally tip it over to the other side it will fall in the heat. /wet coffee grounds. I didn't notice any noticeable change in taste. Although I'm not a real coffee drinker. It is as easy to clean as any other reusable filter. Dispose of the soil in a garbage/compost bin. (Only throw ground coffee down the drain/disposal if you love your plumber and want to see and support them with frequently clogged drains! ;)) Then rinse with hot water. Use soap/detergent sparingly, rinse thoroughly if hand washing. Even I don't like soapy coffee. ;)
