I wasn't impressed at all. I bought this to stop buying paper filters and since I have a four cup coffee maker, it's Mr Coffee I figured it would fit. Fits, but doesn't keep coffee grounds in the filter basket. Instead, most of the coffee grounds end up in the pot, so I've reverted to paper filters that keep the coffee grounds in the basket instead of in my coffee mug.

I have a 5 cup Essential Home coffee maker. This basket fits perfectly. It's very easy to clean. My coffee is never ground. This did not affect the taste of my coffee. And really, why should it? When you wash and rinse it, a scent should be transferred. I use the same amount of coffee as before and the strength is exactly the same. Good, coffee filtered, not leaked or broken; However, my disappointment lies in the quality of the coffee produced. The first cup of coffee I poured was lighter and very weak. The second cup, poured from the same carafe, was again light in color and the bottom of the carafe was full of coffee grounds. I've never had this problem with paper filters. Emptying the filter also takes practice - it's not easy getting rid of all the grist, so I ended up rinsing it out and quite a bit of the grist…

I bought this to be more environmentally friendly and to avoid running out of filters/repurchasing at a bad time. 4 cup filters are harder to find than traditional 10 cup filters. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that. I found it TOO SMALL. Apparently it works fine. The bottom is solid plastic, not mesh. The basket is smaller than all paper filters, so there is a gap between the filter and the inner brew basket. Maybe that's better? I only ever make "2 cups" at a time, but no problem so far.

I like that it's reusable. It looks well made. The soap gets stuck in the strainer, so cleaning requires a lot of water for rinsing. So I doubt it's really more eco-friendly than a biodegradable coffee filter. Soil gets everywhere and now I have to clean the coffee maker (not just the coffee pot) daily and the sink gets dirty too (which in turn wastes more water). The coffee is still good until you reach the bottom of the cup and realize it's full of coffee grounds and now you need to rinse…
