EDIT: After a few weeks of use and breaking in, I can safely say they definitely punch a lot more than their weight. They easily beat Q Acoustics and competed with the KEF 350 for their money. The KEF's soundstage may be a bit better, but these Kantos have a more balanced sound. I was looking for cheaper passive speakers for my office. These fit the bill: good size, good company, great looks. They don't confuse anyone, but they sound great for their price range: I think they sound better than the KEF Q150s I've tried and are about on par with the KEF Q350s. They share a similar personality but are only $199 for the set. They also sound better to me than the Q Acoustic 3020i set I had previously. My biggest criticism is that they can be a bit tiring at first and a little muddy in the middle of the top. But after some breaking in, they start to open up very well. All in all, these are arguably the best passive speakers for the price. Most users won't notice much of a difference between these speakers and the $1,500 KEF speakers, and they look very nice. Are they huge killers or will they please high-end audiophiles? Probably no. Are they for music lovers and people who need reliable workhorse speakers? Yes absolutely. Combine them with a decent cheap amp like the Loxjie and you have a great entry level sound system.
