Absolutely my favorite lens. Stick to sharp, consistent focus. Basically NO coma --- MUCH less than the 20mm and 24mm Sigmas I've tried, even when used at f2.8. Solidly built. Feels very good in the hand. Now this lens stays on my D750. I've rented this and several other lenses, including the Nikon 14-24 2.8, and the Tamron consistently did a better job of controlling coma and flare, and was at least as sharp. Both do a good job of vignetting and distortion control. The extra 6mm on the 30mm side makes the Tamron even more useful to me. VERY good for astrophotography. After trying the faster Sigma and Rokinon fixes, I still chose Tamron due to the lack of coma. Testing the Sigmas (which were also very good lenses) I stopped both at f/2.8 and the Tamron still had less coma. Would I like f/2? Sure, but all the fast lenses I tried just couldn't keep up with the angles. And virtual reality helps more than I thought. 1/2 second handheld shots at 30mm are quite possible. It feels massive and solid, fully justifying the expected weight of a lens made from this amount of glass. The coatings are really good at preventing condensation on cold nights and also basically eliminate ghosting. I highly recommend the Tamron 15-30mm and would buy it again without hesitation. See attached images for proof of the capabilities of this lens.
