Review on Coghlans Time Temp Digital Dangler by Justin Ferguson

Max Min best feature

If you want to know the minimum temperature when you are away from home, this device is cheap and accurate in my experience. I've seen it criticized for being 3 or 5 degrees too warm. I don't think these users realized that the device is so sensitive that if you hold the body of the thermometer, your own body heat will skew the reading. You leave it untouched, in a shaded, ventilated area you'll get accurate readings (or at least readings within 1 degree of the three mercury thermometers I used for my test). hike and you won't get accurate temperatures. Requires free hanging in a shaded, ventilated location. Which leads to the following comment: I've seen complaints about weather resistance, but one day I left mine hanging in lupine bushes 30 meters from the ocean in Pt Reyes, California and found that a year later it was still working perfectly. I was surprised. This requires careful handling of the adjustment knob on the back. I broke off one unit a bit too roughly with a pencil point. It's cheap, if you're worried buy a backup. Additional note: I recently bought a new instrument (I left another one hanging in the shade) and it consistently reads 2 or 3 degrees higher than my mercury. quality control? change sensor? I do not know. Still the cheapest and most convenient thermometer with max/min memory.
