Review on 🎡 Red Visual Land V-Clip Pro MP3 Player with Speaker - 4GB Capacity by Stephen Thomas

It works. but with many flaws

I have several MP3 players, so I had certain minimum expectations: I wanted to be able to stop and pick up where I left off, and I wanted to be able to adjust the volume . and down with one button. This MP3 player doesn't do any of those simple things. If anyone has figured out how to use any of these functions I would greatly appreciate a reply in the comments with your advice. Below is a full list of my likes and dislikes for the gamer. I liked: 1. The clip on the player is very good, I like that it can be attached to anything (update: it broke after 2 months of random use)2. I like having a speaker in addition to the headphones. Sure, it's not the best speaker, but sometimes you want to continue listening without headphones, and that comes in handy3. Good size 4. The controls are easy to use even though the screen is very small and the text is tiny and hard to see, but the controls themselves are solid5. You charge your device by plugging it into either a computer's USB port or the included USB charger. This little charger is perhaps the best part of the package. I have already used it to charge my cell phone. What I don't like: 1. When you stop listening, the device doesn't remember where you left off and you have to remember and navigate to the same spot using the tiny screen. It's almost a deal breaker for me as I want to listen to the recorded lectures and it's very difficult to find where I left off.2. You can turn the volume control up by pressing a button, but I haven't found a way to turn the volume down with a button. I figured out how to do this by navigating the controls through multiple menu levels. It's difficult when you're outside because the screen is small and I can't see the menu well, but when you're in the sun forget it. I found that I could turn down the volume by pulling the phone out of my ear a bit. Here's how I did it - pretty crude.3. As said, the screen is small, the text is small and faded, difficult to see in good light, unusable in the sun. Note: what you see in the photo is not real text but plastic. Screen cover with printed text. I just want the text to be as big and bright as this image.4. The charger does not indicate when the device is fully charged. It has a red light that stays red all the time (which obviously indicates it's just connected to the mains), it never turns green as I expected, that means the device is fully charged. I left it plugged in for over 24 hours. (see attached photo)5. It is very difficult to tell when the device is charged or low. There are tiny bars somewhere on the display, but they're very difficult to see because they're so small. My other devices use regular AAA batteries, so I can just carry a spare AAA battery and replace it when it dies, but not in this device. You need to plan ahead when you need to charge it, but planning isn't easy when it's hard to see that the device is running low.6. The manual is useless and contains little information. There is an MP3 version of the manual that can be downloaded, or you can download the "full version" from the website. I have read both, they are almost identical. The full version has more disclaimers. However, none of them tell you, for example, that the menu button is the "Run" button. This is the button you need to press to complete the process. You have to find out for yourself. I bought this unit at a discount so I'm keeping it as a backup at the discounted price of $17. But I won't buy it again, nor do I recommend it. 07/20/11 After two months of irregular use, the only feature that I really liked is broken - the clip. One of the two small plastic pins on the back that hold the clip has broken off completely. I carefully undid the clip to attach it to my shirt. 10/19/11 I bought another MP3 player that I am very happy with, SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player 4GB (Black), Visual Land V-Clip is in the trash. The only thing I use from this purchase is the charger, which I like for its thin configuration (occupies only one slot on the power strip).
