I am ordering this after installing a 1GB internet connection. After waiting a month for Revain to ship it finally arrived. However, the Orbi router was unable to sync with my ISP's modem and obtain an IP address via DHCP. After 5 hours on the phone with Netgear tech support, the only way to get the router working was to clone my Macbook's Mac address to Orbi and set up Orbi as a static IP using the last IP address that my Macbook received when connected directly to the ISP modem. This is just an unstable or valid setting for a $449.99 device. Netgear Level 2 Technical Support requested a callback after further investigating the behavior I observed. Three hours later, they called me and said that after checking with the engineers, they discovered that this unit was defective and that something was wrong with the Mac address. Hey, that's what they said. The recommended course of action was to return the device. So I did. Hopefully Revain will process the refund quickly. Orbi looked like a decent option. This is one of the few Wi-Fi 6 routers that requires 100% no forwarding of your traffic/metadata, protecting your privacy. But back to the drawing board. Does anyone have a recommendation for a mesh WiFi router that offers some privacy protection and can take advantage of 1Gbps link speeds?
