My car: 2004 Honda Accord, 2.4 i4 (LEV), 5 speed. Bought to replace a cracked intake box. They were about the same price when I set this up, so I went ahead and got an "upgrade" since I would have had about the same amount of work to do. I can't honestly say if this translates into more power or better fuel economy. I just reset my control box so time will tell in that regard. The sound is excellent, especially in second and third gear. Below are the problems I encountered.1. My particular vehicle does not have a MAF sensor but does have an IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor. I didn't need a CARB certified kit, but I decided to take it with me just in case. This kit is made for SULEV, which means it has a MAF slot but no IAT sensor. To remedy this situation, you must be prepared to craft this beautiful piece of pipe. To block the MAF hole, cut a piece of aluminum about 2" x 2", create a template to transfer the screw holes, and drill the holes. Very easy when you know what you're doing. After that, take some silicone sealant to seal the gap between the plate and the pipe and let it dry.2. There is no IAT sensor connector included in this kit. After I finished the installation, I turned on the machine and immediately a CEL appeared with code P0113 indicating I hadn't reconnected the IAT. The car does not idle abnormally and drove normally. However, no one wants to ride CEL all the time. To fix this, I drilled a 1/2" diameter hole (using successive larger drill bits) just before the first bend (near the throttle body). It's best to determine the location beforehand so you can make sure the plug reaches the sensor. Then file off any burrs inside and out. When the hole is smooth, put a thick rubber grommet in it, then remove the sensor from the old intake manifold and insert it into the grommet in the new intake manifold. Don't forget to close up any shavings remove before attaching these to the throttle body! Listen for air leaks and use a silicone gasket maker if necessary. If you're looking for something bolt-on only, you can go for the CAI version (it's more expensive). I believe it has an IAT sensor hole and no mass airflow hole I'm pretty sure the problems I've encountered are from the early model years of the Gen 7 Accord ion originate. K&N doesn't mention anything about this in the instructions, so I hope this helps someone. People who say it's not in line with their agreement are citing those issues. The rest of the installation is simple and straightforward. It will match your Accord, you just need to make some changes. Most people just don't want to drill holes in their new $200 intake manifold.
