Review on πŸ”Œ RIITOP NVMe Adapter with Heat Sink - M.2 PCIe SSD to PCI-e Converter Card | 2280/2260/2242/2230 [Upgraded] by Anthony Epps

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Top notch passive cooling and speed

I had some issues with Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe drives getting very hot without a heatsink on my previous computer (which these drives are notorious for) so when I assembled my new one I have using one of these cards. I use three NVMe drives, so this adapter allows using an additional drive in the onboard slots on the motherboard. The hard drive temperature is 30-35Β°C when idle and 40-45Β°C under heavy test load, which is absolutely incredible compared to the predecessor. The speed shows no noticeable change from the built-in slots (as it should) and the card fits perfectly and looks like it belongs to my Maximus XI Hero. When I installed the drive in the card I removed the top sticker (on the chips, DO NOT remove the bottom sticker from the 970 drive as it is a heatsink itself and is very important) and placed it on the card and also became one of the thermal pads under the drive as well as on the chips is used to dissipate heat from both sides of the drive.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Factor set
