Top notch passive cooling and speed

I had some issues with Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe drives getting very hot without a heatsink on my previous computer (which these drives are notorious for) so when I assembled my new one I have using one of these cards. I use three NVMe drives, so this adapter allows using an additional drive in the onboard slots on the motherboard. The hard drive temperature is 30-35°C when idle and 40-45°C under heavy test load, which is absolutely incredible compared to the predecessor. The speed shows no…

NVMe SSD Lead Halved

I have this card to move an NVMe SSD from a dedicated M.2 slot on the motherboard to a PCIEx8 slot. The reason was to free up 2 SATA ports shared with the M.2 slot. But the performance of the NVMe SSD has been halved. I placed the RIITOP NVMe adapter in the PCIEx8 slot. 1 PCIEx1 slot is full. I moved the NVMe M.2 back to the original slot. Bought a SATA controller card instead of SATA drives and installed 2 slower NVMe Gen3 SSDs in Raid0/Stripe. yes, there is still a useless RIITOP NVMe…

PCI x4 but Fast: Computer Accessories and Peripherals

I set the x16 track here, but it runs at x4 speed. Needless to say, it's fast. A fresh installation of Windows Server 2016 Essentials loads immediately. I didn't add a bunch of launchers to slow it down, but they can reduce it from "instant" to "a split second". My motherboard allows PCI-e boot. I put a Samsung 970 Plus Evo in it, put a silicone adhesive thing on it, unscrewed the top radiator and connected it. I only used the thickest of the three silicone pads. gave, and so far so good. Maybe

Works with Sabrent 1TB NVMe and Z87 motherboard

Installed internal Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD in my i7-4770k motherboard with PCI-e x4 slot on Z87 motherboard with this adapter . The graphics card now runs on PCI-e x8 lanes instead of x16, but the Gamers Nexus shows no performance loss in graphics card performance versus the GTX 1070 and I haven't noticed any difference in my games other than faster loading from an SSD. Cooler not installed. which came with an adapter as I didn't want to remove the Sabrent sticker just yet…

Easy to install and works like a champ!

Installing an NVMe drive in this adapter and inserting it into the PCIe slot took about 5 minutes. Then the time I spent in the BIOS to make sure my MOBO could see it and then setting it up to use it the way I wanted it took another 5 minutes or so. It was quick and efficient and I had no problems. I wanted to have very fast and sufficient storage space on my machine. So I bought this adapter and two Silicon Power 1TB NVMe drives and used my ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3 BIOS to create a…

I got this card to move an NVMe SSD from a dedicated M.2 slot on the motherboard to a PCIEx8 slot. The reason was to free up 2 SATA ports shared with the M.2 slot, but the NVMe SSD output was halved. I placed the RIITOP NVMe adapter in the PCIEx8 slot. i7-11700 processor, Z590 Taichi motherboard, graphics card in PCIEx16 slot, 2 NVMe SSDs in other M.2 slots (3 total) and 1 PCIEx1 slot full. I moved the NVMe M.2 back to the original slot. Bought a SATA controller card instead of SATA drives and…

Pretty easy to set up with NVMe SDD.

It is compact and has silicone pads for better heat distribution. The kit comes with 3 silicone pads of 3 different thicknesses and I was wondering what to use and where. I just installed them temporarily to see what I need and where. If my SSD was thinner I think all 3 could be used. I ended up using the thickest at the bottom of my Intel 660p SSD and the thickest middle at the top of the SSD. I tried using the third one from the bottom but I couldn't get the screws to tightly close the…

Passive cooling not enough

I bought it because my 2TB 970 Evo Plus reached 70C when connected to m.2 of my motherboard, which is really too much. With this drive installed, my drive reached 61°C and after idling again it dropped to around 57-58°C. Not a bad improvement, but still nothing special. I then moved the card to a slot just below my GPU fans, and it now maxes out at 54C and stays that way even after long benchmarks/gaming sessions (this doesn't affect GPU temperatures of course), so with proper direct cooling…

Long term update: Some technical information ahead. Read on if you're interested, otherwise just take this as a 10/10 confirmation for both thermal management and moving NVMe to a straight-line PCIe CPU cluster, which in most cases will support I/O -Really reduced overhead. general usage criteria and circumstances. My personal unit has maintained a very aggressive usage cycle for my main engine for several years. My SSD temperatures stayed well below safe and cautionary thresholds (basically…
