Mini Feeders and Baby Feeders have mixed reviews so I thought I'd share my experience. First, it's not a weak or crappy unit. On the contrary, it's surprisingly durable and powerful. I installed it on my 1 1/2 hp shaper. and I can't imagine the need for a higher powered feeder. A feeder of this size seems to suit the average hobbyist on a smaller shaper. A few notes: Slow speed is enough to make smooth cuts with the knives in my shaper. This is difficult and tedious to do by hand, but allows cheaper cutting tools to be used. The wheels are made of a fairly soft rubber compound. I couldn't get them to slide. The motor is universal, no induction. That's why it can be so powerful for its weight and size. In the same way, there can be variable speed at a lower cost. At the same time, it is quite quiet since it does not rotate very quickly. The whole unit is perfect for my Jet 1 1/2 HP Shaper. I installed the base in the top right corner. Comes with a template for drilling holes. The right corner is better than the left because you can make the extension much shorter. The adjustment mechanism is impractical. The powerhead is attached to the extension with a giant swivel joint. Because the extension pivots from its base, the angle of the drive head relative to the shaft is constantly changing as the lever is rotated. Imagine a bubble level that has popped up at one end. To complicate matters further, the wheels are offset from the engine, so the power head naturally wants to lean away from the wheels when the pivot is released. Fortunately, there is an easy solution. I made a stick out of hardwood to fit under the aluminum case opposite the wheels. I did this to fill in the space between the shroud and the shaper table to allow the power head to seat evenly when loosened. Viola, instant setting. My racquet size is 18" x 2" (none) x 1/4" thickness (important). If I need to adjust the height etc. I loosen the swivel, loosen the extension shaft, put a spacer bar under the sheath, and let everything settle down as you work Tighten everything up and I'm ready to go Another annoyance is that the levers to operate the swing arm are in the way of the mold protection knobs of the way And maybe the unique design of my inkjet shaper. Generally am I was pleasantly surprised by this feeder. I didn't even think it would be so good for its size and price.
