I bought 2 cables from Matters with a gold plated Mini DisplayPort to DVI active male to female adapter for my Surface Book and Surface Dock. The product arrived very quickly and in retail packaging, properly boxed to protect during transit. Installation was easy, removing the protective plastic and plugging into my docking station and monitor. My setup consists of a Surface Book, a Surface Dock and 2 View Sonic VA2452SM monitors. View Sonic monitors have an integrated display port, so I figured that buying a micro display port for the dock and a display port for the monitor would be enough to drive two external monitors. I didn't want to buy an adapter if it wasn't necessary. Everything was working great until my Surface Book went to sleep. Most of the time, the external monitors didn't wake up. I would have to unplug and plug the dock back in, or turn it off and on again. It got annoying fast so I started researching. It turns out there are a few others who have common external monitor issues with a Surface Dock. A common solution has been to purchase active display adapters, and one of the forums suggested a gold-plated Cable Matters mini-DisplayPort to DVI active male-to-female adapter. After installing the adapters and using the HDMI cables, I had no trouble waking up the monitors. If you have a Surface Dock, I highly recommend investing a little more and getting this adapter. The overall quality seems top notch and I have no issues with the design, build or adapter quality.
