works fantastic just a few things to look out for

I've been using this product for about 3 months; I live in an apartment above my landlord's garage, who lives in the house below and has a WLAN router etc. Another tenant in the basement also has access. This card works great - I'm quite a distance from my router, but I'm almost always within "very good" range no matter where I am in my apartment. I can even go outside. That's quite an impressive feat, especially since the rental company's configuration only uses Linksys hardware, not Netgear - my rental company says I have the fastest connection of them all. (In addition to this card, I also have a super-fast laptop, which probably helps as well.) There are a few things to keep in mind when using this card. 1) If you are using XP, Windows will try to "control" and manage your network for you - it will install its own driver, run the card, etc. I STRONGLY recommend that you get the card with the configuration CD to install. (or by downloading the latest firmware from the website) instead of letting Windows install the drivers itself. Your XP software probably doesn't have the latest drivers. Also, I would recommend even more strongly NOT to allow Windows to manage the connection - if you click on "My Connections" and then on "Wireless Connection Status" you should have a window that says something like "Windows are managing the connection leaves” says – UNCHECK . THIS BOX. Let the card manage its own connection - this works much better. 2) If you or someone who lives within a few hundred meters of you uses a 2.4 GHz cordless phone, especially an older one, you may experience interference. It turned out that my phone was preventing everyone from connecting and causing frequent disconnects. If you experience frequent disconnects the first time you use your card, don't blame the card until you've asked everyone in your area to try a different channel on their 2.4GHz phone. Once I did that everything was settled and I've had great service ever since.

Pros
  • stylish and modern design
Cons
  • is enough
