So-so range and sound quality

First of all, this is a walkie talkie set for kids. Given that, this is a decent set for the price. They work great, are lightweight and keep kids entertained for hours. --- LOVE --- They work for what most children use them for. To go to the park. One child is upstairs, the other in the garden. If you increase the range, they drop about 1/2 mile. I haven't experienced many circumstances where my kids would be that far apart and need a walkie talkie so take that with a grain of salt. They work well for what most kids use them for. They are lightweight, although they pull my child's pants down when walking with them buckled into his pants. You have enough settings to make it comfortable to use: - Ringtone change - Automatic noise cancellation - VOX (with sensitivity settings) - Light volume +/- buttons - Lock - Channel search --- DESIGNS ---- There is no button the clip on the back , so that small children (5-6 years old) cannot easily engage/disengage. They use 6 AA batteries! As a parent, I have vowed to give up all baby products that use AA because I keep losing rechargeable AAs. A built-in removable battery would be much better. When visibility is limited, range is reduced by approximately 1/2 mile. The overall quality of the speakers or radio signal is a bit lower which makes it hard to understand compared to my adult Midland kit. The kids don't notice, but I do. In general, there are more glitches than in comparison, but that's not scary. I'm comparing a $20 set to a $50 set. Overall - kids love it. I had to buy an extra set of 8 rechargeable batteries ($15) so let's just say we'll buy the $50 Midlands set instead. The $15 difference is negligible, so just pick the better one. the same size/weight and you won't lose the damn batteries. Also, Midlands has a dock and has a range of 30 miles (closer to 3-4 miles on closed sight). I live in a hilly town so the range is very limited. The Midland radio also has a button clip so kids can easily clip it to their belt/bag. Midland also has a weather radio. Midland - LXT630VP3http://a.co/dsxw74Z
