Explodes within 10 seconds. Connected to 240V

Installed using our existing hot water tank circuit. Allow the water to drain for about 30 seconds and turn on the power while the water is flowing. I switched to the low power setting and the device gave off a wonderful glow, it sounded like a short circuit as my hand was underwater and felt it warm up. Burned out in less than 10 seconds.
