This is a satirical novel about divorce and money. A selfish, morally decadent woman, married out of boredom, falls in love with another man. Since money is everything, a woman gives her daughter to her ex-husband for $2 million. Her wealthy friends accept this as perfectly normal. Grant tells the story as if nothing had happened, maybe even too much. Where's the outrage? Not found anywhere in this setting.
