I had to connect my desktop computer to a new monitor (not a TV, there's a difference) which, like many these days, only has an HDMI port. The computer only has a DisplayPort and a VGA connector, and obviously I won't be using VGA. I've read about DisplayPort and while there are significant differences between it and HDMI, none of those differences mattered to me when using a computer monitor. I also learned that there are three physically different types of HDMI connectors (Type A, B, and C) and two different types of DisplayPort connectors. And I learned that a passive adapter cable is all that is needed to convert one cable to another. Now the question was, which of the dozens of different models listed here? I already had a very high quality HDMI cable and didn't want to replace it, so I went with an adapter like the one shown here. They all look the same to me, so of course I picked the one with the most user contributions. Most seem to agree that this is the way to go. The good news is that I received it in two days. I have waited months for such small adapters. It is very well made, durable and reliable. This is a plus. And if, of course, it works exactly as expected. The description didn't include a sufficiently accurate picture of the adapter end connections to help me, so I'll do that, I hope it helps.
