When I received this item I was dying to put it in my bathroom. The carpets were absolutely perfect for the first few days, until I really noticed them. Where the carpets were saturated, the ivory color eventually faded to a pale gray. Not too terrible and not that easily noticeable, so that was good. THEN I washed the carpets. Since the clothes are bulky and heavy, especially when wet, I chose to wash them separately rather than in a mixed wash. Carpets are grey! I say tie dye because the ivory didn't turn into a solid gray. The black flowed into a grey, more saturated than the other parts of the carpet. I am so disappointed and frustrated with these rugs. I really liked them and they were perfect until I washed them. To everyone who wants to buy them or has already bought them: DO NOT WASH. If the place you plan to place them needs occasional washing, DO NOT BUY. After washing they become unrecognizable - and I only washed and air dried, not tumble dried - black becomes dull and blotchy, ivory is gray and even dark gray/almost black in places. After washing I'm thinking of throwing them away, they are ugly and not suitable for the room I bought them for.
