We had one of these style slicers and it lasted five years with much usage. I received this one last week and love it. You can do so much slicing and grating with it. My salads look restaurant quality using this. I've sliced potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, onions, and also grated cheese and carrots. The suction cup works perfectly holding it down. The plastic is thick and sturdy. The mistake I made with our last one was pushing a big carrot down real hard trying to get it done quickly. Stupid mistake. Never push down hard. It can slice anything with just normal pressure. It's very easy to clean, easy to take apart and put together. Changing blades just requires you to turn a knob on the handle, switch and grate or slice. This is a great product!
