The material from which the synthetic wood is made is very durable. I accidentally dropped it from about 3 feet and there was no damage or tears. I suppose the big fish might pet him a bit afterwards. Also, my rooster likes to hang out under that log and occasionally scares away brown cats that want to cool off under it too (need to give them more cover). The problem I have with this product is the artificial moss. It has great turf feel and ejects tiny fibers right out of the box when you touch it. I tested it in a bowl of plain water and the fibers began to rise out of the log and disperse through the water column. I believe this would be a SERIOUS problem if the smaller fish thought it was free swimming food. So before using it in my aquarium I tried to scrape off all the artificial moss which turned out to be quite a challenge... I had to use a knife to scrape everything off and finally a wire sponge to remove the small pieces and glue . they just made it without artificial moss; Perhaps use the same aquarium safe paint to color the moss. That being said, at least advertise land animals that don't injure themselves or ingest the fibers.
