All our previous cameras were Nikon. When the Z mount came out and we wanted to upgrade to an entry-level professional camera, this is the one we went with. But after we bought one, ran it through the steps and randomly focused, we thought we had a bad one, so we sent it back and bought another. It's hard to judge the quality of an image when some are fantastic and others are out of focus. It wasn't until we started checking out the reviews on YouTube that we realized that focusing seemed to be a common issue with the Z5. So we went outside in moderate light and took some standard portrait shots. 7 out of 10 were not properly focused. So we went inside where we could control the light better. Same results. Even when the yellow frame showed the subject in focus, it remained blurry. It seemed like focus was only right if it found the eye. Well, when you take professional photos you can't expect to be looking directly at the camera in everything you ever shoot, which is why we sent it back. We will try the Sony a7 iii. Even though it's 3 years old, the reviews are still better than the Z5, which is very disappointing.
