Review on Wodent Wheel Senior Tail Shield by Gina Williams

If only I knew. Best in class Wheels

I don't like this wheel. My Syrian hamster Daisy seems to really like it but if I knew what I know now I would probably just buy a Carolina Storm wheel. I'm not saying there aren't any pros to this bike, but for me the cons outweigh the cons. ADVANTAGES: 1. This is a good size for Syrian hamsters. It has a solid tread3. It has a FLAT tread (one of the things I dislike about a silent spinner)4. The front panel prevents your hamster from flying too far off the wheel5. Quiet when in use CONS: 1. This wheel is a real pain to clean. That's the biggest minus for me. In order to clean the wheel, it must be completely disassembled, which is not an easy task. The hardest part is removing the pin that holds the wheel to the base. You need to put the wheel on its back and press on the front plate to pull out the pin. I use tweezers to pull out the pin. Putting the pen back in at the end is just as much fun as taking it out. And I've already lost the bolt (I've had the bike for about a month).2. The walking belt is quite brittle and difficult to put back into the groove on the front and back plates. I recommend leaving it attached to one of the panels to make it a little easier. It seems that even when I think the caterpillar is perfectly aligned and back in place, when my hamster starts walking, the wheel starts making a clicking noise similar to what you hear when you put the caterpillar back on put in the groove.3. Lots of details to keep an eye on. Some of them are tiny and easy to lose, others are hard to collect. I know it's hard to find quality hamster stuff that is the right size. And wheels tend to be either expensive or dangerous. If you're looking for a good-quality, good-sized handlebar that's easy to clean, look no further than the Carolina Storm handlebar. The faceplate is a good idea to protect your little friend, but it's not a guarantee. It could be a really good option if they make some design improvements.
