Review on πŸ”‰ CRC Disc Brake Quiet - Reduce Noise & Improve Braking - 4 Fl Oz. (05016) by Kyle Awasthi

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Supplied without cap to seal bottle, better price at general store with cap intact.

Downgrade to one star until someone catches the bug and fixes it. I didn't receive the lid so I didn't want to open it. I don't care how much it costs, I just don't like wasting valuable things. I need to fix the brakes on three cars that shouldn't even contain half of this bottle, but without the cap I can only use it once. I know the product. Send me a cap and I'll upgrade it to five stars as soon as I receive it. Don't send me a cap and I will never buy a CRC product again. I desperately need a cap, otherwise I'll voluntarily throw this bottle away and use a competitor's product. PLEASE HELP US WITH THE MISSING CAPS! The product itself, which I've used for decades, is decent enough that I continue to buy it (for padless pads), but I can't say it stops intact pads from squeaking every time. Your silent pads are more likely to be silent when installed on new *clean* pads. If you need to retrofit squeaky pads with this material, make sure the back of the pads are perfectly clean with a ***brake safe*** solvent that evaporates easily. Bracklin works. Every time I've had to upgrade pads with this material for someone, I personally, after cleaning, place the pads in a chamber under high vacuum (at least 02 Torr / 3 Pa in my installation, but any significant reduction in pressure will be accelerated) for about 30 minutes the volatility of the solvent) to ensure that the solvent has completely evaporated before applying this material. Doesn't stick securely even if there are traces of solvent somewhere. Time plus heat is a suitable substitute for a vacuum, both end up doing the same job. I gave this product one star for value: it costs a dollar or two less than most auto shops, but the oversight with this shipping completely eliminates it. any savings. The bottle I received is essentially disposable as the bottle came without the usual red cap to seal it once opened. He must have been hit by some sort of sorting machine and is now lying on the floor of the Revain warehouse. The cap comes off easily, so I guess that's quite common. Too bad I didn't think of that before ordering. Spend 10-30% more when buying from a hardware store so you know the cap is intact unless you settle for spending over 90% of the product. I quickly have to use less than 10% of this bottle on a brake job and then throw away the rest because it's thick junk that hardens quickly so a ziplock bag or whatever probably won't keep it stable for weeks, not to mention next . brakes work. Transferring to a new container will create a huge mess and the product will most likely be spoiled in the process. I've been trying to find a durable lid that I could use for this item, but I can't find a lid that fits any of the household items I've tried so far. If you intend to use the product once, please discard it. the rest, then it's a good value for you. One or two tanks are smaller than regular stores. I do all brake work on all my cars and often others too, so I figure I can use all 4 ounces, which is light enough for a dozen full jobs with front and rear disc brake pads. Next time I'll take it to autozone/oreilly/walmart/etc.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • The list will be long.
