so I insisted on buying this unscented diaper pail (not cheap) for our first. I like that there is an activated carbon filter. I really like that it has locking handles to hold baby's arms while walking. Unfortunately, plastic absorbs the smell of poop and begins to literally emit the smell of poop. I'm not exaggerating. Our entire attic smelled of faeces for months. I tried baking soda. I tried to ventilate. I tried wiping it off. I tried essential oils (mostly it smelled like lime scent). I tried a bag of dry coffee grounds, it smelled like coffee grounds. As far as I can remember, poop didn't smell when breastfeeding. But after feeding she could not stand it anymore, her husband regularly commented on this, and only daredevils could put on a diaper because of the deafening stench when opening the lid. Once opened, it stayed in the air for a full five minutes. My extra bags that I put on the floor even soaked up the smell. I hate that expensive stink bucket. When my child went to the toilet, that was the happiest day of our lives. We're expecting number two and I started looking for a different diaper solution. I saw this popup in the suggestions and had to submit my review.
