2000 Mile Review Best in Protective Gear

Background to the review: From mid-September to early December, my fiance and I traveled from Greece to Portugal, partly by train through Italy and Spain. I'm pretty cheap and bought two 1980's Schwinns that we traveled in. I was looking for something in the middle in quality and price with a helmet. We drove just over 2,000 miles. We rode in all weather conditions except snow, with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees on our trip. I had a Bern helmet (Berkeley model) for many years, but I left it in our van because there's a dog in there. What a good boy. Do you understand. I bought this because it was $10 cheaper and had fewer vents, which I think would be good for our trip during the cooler months. It fits well. I dropped it multiple times and dropped it once walking down a cliff with it in my seat and forgot I didn't have it attached to the frame. In the third shot you can see where he ended up on the beach. I paired this with a Patagonia running cap that I wore around town, which was a good combination for eyeshadow, although the visor was thin and didn't hold up as well in the wet as the thicker brim of Bern's included visor. One thing to keep in mind if you are considering going down this route. Likes: Overall a good helmet. Medium quality airflow for warm weather (you can't have everything). Adjustment feature to fit snugly to the head comfortably for added security/fit. Dislikes: maybe a bit pricey at $50 for what I paid. I think Bern's build quality is better than $10. Conclusion: Good helmet for the price. I would also recommend buying a Bern helmet and seeing which one fits and feels better and then returning it. It's pretty close for me between the two and when I get back to my van I might add a bit more detail to compare them, but I might not. Hope that helps!
