This little cable worked as described. I wish it was just an inch longer. Anyway, I've used this to connect a Motorola Lapdock to an Android stick (Imito MX1) and it works. This allows the lapdock to power the Android stick. I'm still fiddling around, but for now, with this cable and HDMI connection, I can power on and view Imito. However, with this setup I am unable to use the Lapdock keyboard to control Imito as expected. In any case, this cable connects the male micro USB connector to the female micro USB connector as described. I've looked everywhere and this is the only cable I could find that does exactly that, apparently a very specialized cable.
