Review on πŸ”Œ ZONET Networking 4+1 Port USB 2.0 PCI Desktop Card with VIA Chip Set - Enhanced for SEO by Robert Castro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It happened by accident

This card did not suit me, and it seems that I am not alone. The packaging states that this card is Mac and PC compatible. It didn't work properly on my Mac G4, and most of the comments here about how the card works seem to be PC only and only with certain peripherals. For example, the card can supply enough current to power my iPod, but not enough to charge it. The card also failed to connect to my iPod, USB drive or digital camera to transfer data. Also, my computer kept crashing while installing the card: I believe this is a problem with the card that is preventing the computer from properly sleeping. The card does not sit well in the slot due to poor processing tolerances. This may be part of the problem with how it works, but I believe it's a chipset issue as well. Try it at your own risk, especially if you have a Mac or large drives to connect (camera, USB drive, external hard drive, iPod). After throwing it away, I found that the Belkin was a few bucks more expensive - a much better deal.

Pros
  • Normal price
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine
