I don't have an automatic cleaning box, but I bought one to use in a standard box. This is by far the best crystal filler I've tried. It took both bags to fill Mr. Fat's box, but after a month there is still NO urine/ammonia smell in the box, still some of the "slush" on the bottom that I've experienced with other crystalline fillers. A little pricey but as it outlasts all other types I've tried they should last 2 months and I end up having to replace them within 3 weeks. I'll say it's worth the price as the number of changes is less. Edit 02/02/17: While I really like this filler and its functionality, the last 2 shipments have been very dusty - to the point that when Mr. Kitty uses it and the sun shines through the window it leaves a cloud of dust. In minutes. I've also noticed that he wheezes for it every time he uses his box, so I'm also wondering if this has been part of our breathing/sneezing issues lately? As much as I love how well it works, I can't handle the dust so I have to find an alternative. I'm deducting 2 stars for now. Can come back to the product later.
