I'm not usually thrilled with a product I review. I'm usually pretty picky and can find at least a few issues that need improvement. Not this time! These headphones got top marks for me in every category: Pros: 1) Sound isolation with Shure foam eartips is almost the same as the Etymotic ER4S - the best I've heard in terms of NRR.2) Outstanding frequency response, which ignores neither high nor low frequencies. The bass sounds as good or even better than dynamic speakers like the Sennheiser IE 800. That's very impressive for a balanced armature speaker 3) They sound crystal clear - clear and articulate throughout the frequency range. They're surprisingly comfortable for their volume and weight - by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. You can easily sleep with them. 5) They come with three sets of filters to customize the FR to your personal preference (black=warm, blue=neutral, white=bright). 6) They have thin frames that allow for a wide range of aftermarket attachments if you want to experiment. However, the Shure foams are the best tips I have ever used in an IEM. (I've used them with many other Shure and non-Shure headphones for years.) 7) The stems are metal, and they have to be, because the Shure foam tips don't want to detach from those stems! (I've had bad experiences with the plastic snap pins on other IEM Shure models in the past.) Cons: I really can't think of any. The price is the only thing that makes me hesitate to recommend them to everyone. For those who don't take sound too seriously, the Monster Turbine Pro comes very close to Copper in terms of tonal signature and articulation, but lacks the comfort or isolation of an 846. (Though you can now pick up a pair of coppers for about 1/ 4 Prices 846.) I can't judge QC either, since I only had one pair. If they break or stop working I'll unsubscribe, but so far I'm very happy with them. PS: A very important remark that I forgot. These IEMs sound great at any volume. This is very important because when you are directing 100% of that acoustic energy at your eardrum, you need to keep the volume down to protect your hearing.
