Provides great stability over rough or uneven terrain
I have found these to make my life so much more stable. I've recently started using a cane due to bad knees and finding that my stability was shocking. A regular tip on the cane was slippy and made me nervous over snow and ice. The cap is heavy but getting over rough or uneven terrain is simply easier. The cane doesn't skitter away and I find walking easier. My level of confidence has improved with my increased stability. Regarding the question about whether a cane with this tip can stand by itself - I've attached a photo of mine doing so.
