I went through two installation options. In the original instructions, this device is installed in a plastic case containing a thermostat. That never made sense to me as that is where the thermostat sensor wire is and no matter how high I set the temp the food would freeze in the fridge. Back home after a week of vacation, we had to clean up five exploding soda cans. For the second installation I used my dremel to carve a slot to allow the wires to run through the outside of the thermostat housing. I mounted the heater on a wooden panel and attached it to the ceiling of the refrigerator with Velcro. The velcro will allow me to access the thermostat in the future by quickly unplugging the heating wires from the ceiling. This configuration also moves the heating coils away from the thermostat, which is on the other side of the unit. Now it works great. Products in the freezer are frozen, and a constant temperature of 35-38 degrees is maintained in the refrigerator. I also struggle with the freezer drain freezing and water spilling into my fridge several times a year. This required cleaning out the freezer and chipping off several pounds of ice. A super easy solution was to run a 4 inch 12 copper wire with a hook on top of the freezer defrost coil and in the drain area. I used a spare piece of 12/2 copper wire.
