Revainrating 2 out of 5

Should have been good, but I have two mistakes

I bought: 31.5-inch WQHD 1440 monitor for $280 at Revain Prime Day; 27-inch WQHD 1440 monitor on sale for $320. I hope that there will be no such problems during the exchange. The Model 27 arrived in terrible condition looking almost second hand and I returned after testing my rig. I did a lot of research before deciding on monitors and came to the conclusion that ASUS is a great brand. They offer great quality at a good price. And as far as I could tell, these should be great monitors. But in my case, they just didn't. The first monitor I bought was a 31.5 inch monitor. This monitor arrived in perfect condition! It looked great and once I plugged it in it worked great. The huge 1440VA curved screen was a big step up from my 24 inch 1080 TN screen and was great for productivity and gaming. I won't go into detail about its performance, feel free to read other reviews dedicated to it. I had no issues with this monitor for the first two weeks and really enjoyed the upgrade. However, I started to notice random blue pixels popping up on the right side of the screen. After running the pixel test (http://lcdtech.info/en/tests/dead.pixel.htm) I found 6 dead pixels scattered across the right side of the screen. Given that unless you're on a monochrome screen, those pixels are pretty hard to find on a 2K monitor. I never noticed it while playing CS:GO, but I noticed them pretty easily while surfing the web. In any case, it was very disturbing. Monitors should be free of dead pixels after several weeks of use. I have applied for a replacement and am hoping that the new one will not have these issues. I don't have a photo of these pixels because I've already packed both monitors and will send them tomorrow morning. (I'm typing this on my old 1080 monitor, it sucks). Although these pixels appeared in the 31.5", I ordered the 27" to either replace or complement my existing monitor. This was taken into account because my table is not deep, I would say it is medium. And with a monitor larger than 27 inches, a deep desk is preferred to provide a wider viewing angle. The 27 inch monitor arrived quickly in undamaged packaging, but upon unpacking I found the monitor in what appeared to be a used condition. It amazed me a lot. The monitor was fully boxed and sealed, but the screen was worn, the bottom of the monitor was scratched and the back near the connectors was badly scratched, the display port was damaged. After further unpacking and attaching the stand, I found yet another problem. This stand was very wobbly and the monitor detached loosely from the stand when I moved it. It was in terrible condition. I don't know if the QC did something stupid, or if the product was refurbished, or if the monitor was otherwise damaged before it was sent to me. But in any case it was unacceptable. After taking a few shots, I put it on my desk and used it for about an hour. As far as I could tell, there were no dead pixels. After that I wrapped it up and sent it back to Revain. I really wanted to write a detailed review. The 31.5-inch format is a great experience, but if replacing is also a problem, I'll have to look elsewhere. I will leave a follow up on how the replacement applies to me. My advice is to do a lot of research and figure out what type of monitor you need. If it still meets your needs, buy it, but use it for the first month to make sure it works well. Otherwise you can't return it through Amazon and you could be off the monitor for weeks.

Pros
  • The screen size is huge and works well. Overall good value for money.
Cons
  • Poor sharpness
