I bought this to prepare for my summer vacation. I took it out of the box and checked the parts etc but never really used it as I had the flu. I just put it in a closet for the summer. So today, for Memorial Day, I gathered my veggies, installed the parts properly, cut the plastic wire from the plug, and plugged in a good outlet. Then I loaded my veg and set it to "Low". NOTHING. DEAD. I checked everything, disassembled and reassembled, swapped sockets just in case and watched a video on proper assembly and use, although all the parts fit and clicked correctly. DEAD. No engine noise, NOTHING! I have now exited the Revain return window and this item is no longer available. Said to contact Kitchen Aid but they don't do that anymore - it should still be under warranty but who knows the shipping costs etc. I'm not rich so I waited two years for the price to drop and then got it . That was because my stroke and arthritis made it dangerous to cut things by hand. I can't afford a new model. Now I'm so disappointed I'm actually crying. I doubt this thing ever worked, or maybe it was previously owned, returned as broken and then just resold. How could Kitchen Aid allow that, and what kind of salesman would do that?
