We took this on a week long trip to Washington. The 7 year old's day pack takes up very little space and has a little soft padding in the neck and shoulder areas to make him comfortable. The red color made it easy to spot. In it he stayed dry in the constant light rain we ran in. The velcro straps and hood adjuster were good because we bought it with the option, letting it grow out or wearing it over a heavier jacket. warms the child more than a strong wind. This is a summer raincoat.
