The following overview refers to an earlier version of this article. The "new formula" has problems and no one seems to care. This item is great until it hits the halfway mark, at which point the refill (not the wall block) starts smelling like burning plastic/crayons. This isn't a subtle smell, it's a smell that spreads throughout the house, and it goes from no smell to "what's that nasty burning smell?". the whole house in less than half an hour. The smell makes our cat physically ill whenever it happens. We've already been hit by six bottles of this stuff, so it's not an accident. In desperation (because it's so important to our cat's health) we tried to buy a new wall unit and bought fillers from three different sources hoping we just got the wrong batch, but all had the same thing Problem. What good is a product that can only be used half and then thrown away? When I contacted the company to let them know about the problem, they said that the item with "smell" was normal (this is not normal, we have been using it for almost two years and have never had one until the last few months odor noticed) and offered to return items for a refund. I can't imagine Revain or Chewy thanking me for returning bottles every month if they keep smelling this bad so we need to stop using that brand. If you're looking for something that will make your house smell like burnt plastic and you're getting half your money, this is the product for you! If you value your sense of smell and your cat's health, I would skip this product. Throwback from 2020 - before they changed something that made it useless: There have been MANY changes in our lives over the course of 2019 - my cat's lover was very ill. and in the hospital for months, at the same time our other beloved cat was very ill and dying, and many other things that hit one after the other - and because of all this trauma, our cute, shy/nervous Maine Coon cat stopped eating. He lost over 12 pounds and kept disappearing despite our vet's efforts. He was even more afraid of everything than usual and was a shell of himself. In desperation, our vet recommended that we try this product, hoping it would help our cat relax a little. His exact words were "it won't hurt," so we went into it with no real expectations. A few days after hooking up, our boy started eating again and by almost six months he was back to a healthy and healthy weight. As a bonus, when it rains he no longer runs and hides under the bed for hours (which he has been doing ever since we rescued him). Despite hiding from the noise of rain or even the noise of a wet street outside the house for ten years, he now sleeps on the couch during heavy rains like it's no big deal. The same goes for two refills as it does for one refill at our local small town pet store. I'm not saying this will have a wonderful effect on your shy or unhealthy pet; I'm just telling you what he did to our cat. For us this was a stroke of luck.
