I live in northern Wisconsin, so I've tried several pairs of kids' winter boots. Columbia has long been one of our favorite brands for both of our girls. When you have a hard day sledding, you need a good set of boots to keep your child's feet from becoming a block of ice. Believe me, there's nothing worse than trying to warm up cold kids (as they say, needles) in a warm bath. I liked the unassuming black color of these boots. When it comes to children's boots, children grow up so quickly that they sometimes change a few pairs a year. The simple back design allows you to use them for both girls and boys and save some money. They're super easy to manage thanks to the elastic velcro strap on the front that keeps your feet securely in place. This is important because little kids sometimes lose their shoes when walking in deep snow and believe me if there is deep snow they will walk on it. When a child loses their shoe, they jump around until they find the shoe, and then when they put their foot back in, it fills with snow. the snow melts and the child's feet get wet. Wet feet mean cold feet and you warm up your toes in a warm bath. It's best to choose a shoe that stays in place. I also love the profile of these boots. Many children's shoes have a horrible, slippery tread that causes the child to fall every time they start walking (which happens all the time). These boots have enough tread so you don't have to worry about your child's ability to climb a steep hill (saving you from having to keep climbing up and down). You want the kid to climb that hill because then he'll sleep like the dead that night and you can watch the game in peace for a change. The adjustable strap ensures a good fit even with boots that are a little too big. Always buy a little more, the child grows into it. Columbia has a great product, they work great and let you enjoy winter fun with your kids. If your child has cold feet, you will definitely not enjoy winter activities. Worth the price.
