I've used several different products to finish my sourdough bread and wasn't happy with all of them. There are splinters and bare nails on rattan. Plastic bowls tend to loosen bread poorly. Since the reviews for this banneton were overwhelmingly very positive, I decided to give it a try. When it arrived it wasn't what I expected. I guess I thought "pulp" was more like chipboard, so I was surprised but pleased. And a wonder of wonders! It breaks up the batter beautifully by lightly dusting with 50/50 whole wheat/rice flour! I'm really in love here! This is a great product and I highly recommend it - you can't go wrong with it!
