Review on Steadyrack Classic Rack Wall Mounted Solution by Shawn Jacobs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Store bikes off the ground yet accessible - easy to use, quick access, kid friendly

Great for saving space without sacrificing accessibility. No more overhead lifts that require dad to lower bikes. Now everyone, including my kids, takes their bikes off and puts them away. Pros: - Easy to use - Quick access saves time - Saves space - Bikes can be rocked or rotated against a wall - Bikes cannot be mounted more than 14 inches apart. and still face the wall - Relatively easy assembly and online videos available - Easy to raise and lower the bike Cons: - Not the cheapest solution - The drywall anchors that come with them don't fit (try a wall stud) I'm using fender stands, for two 26- Customs beach cruiser with large front fenders. Bikes are held upright with the rear wheel just off the ground. Simply lean the bike on its rear wheel and roll it onto the luggage rack. Then turn the bike sideways until the handlebars touch the wall (the tires remain pressed against the wall as the bike rolls from side to side). Mounting guidelines: The mounting instructions state that bikes can be mounted up to 14 inches apart. This works for identical bikes (two beach cruisers or two mountain bikes), but different handlebar types can interfere with each other. You'll need to push them further apart or move one higher off the ground (affects ease of storage/retrieval). The supplied drywall anchors are totally unsuitable. Do not use them for installation in drywall without studs. I've used Snaptoggle anchors (Home Depot, etc.). One reviewer noted this product as a poor wall anchor. This isn't unique to this product, the anchors that come with it are usually rubbish. Bearings are typically attached to a wall stud for support. I prefer not to pay too much for a product that has quality anchors in it, and if necessary I buy my own. If space and convenience are important to you, I highly recommend you take a closer look at this rack. The ceiling shelves I used were difficult for my wife and I and too difficult for my kids. Bicycles are simply not used. I hope this review helps you in choosing a bike storage solution.
