Review on ⌚ Armitron Sport 45/7004 Unisex Digital Chronograph Watch with Nylon Strap by Sonia Washington

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Two devices, both failed within a few days, replaced the battery, failed again.

Armitron Sport Unisex 45/7004GBKI ordered one based on all the great reviews. After multiple units failed a few times, I decided I needed to add some realism to the inexplicably skewed review of this watch. Basically it's nonsense. The watch is easy to read, very light and not too big on my rather small wrist. Here the fun ended. The clock face was blank the next morning. No number is displayed anywhere. Since the backlight was still on, I assumed the battery was fine. No keystroke brings the display back to life. I did an RMA with Revain and received a second watch a few days later. The replacement device worked perfectly for 3 or 4 days and then stopped working. Rather than return/replace, I opted for a new battery (Energizer 2016, purchased same day from a local pharmacy). The process is not difficult, but it is not easy either. One way or another, the watch came to life. I threw away the old battery, assuming the original battery sat in the clock in a warehouse for years and probably died after using the backlight a few times. A week later the display was blank again. This time I knew the battery was fine so I took it out, waited a few minutes, put it back in and the watch came back to life. I expected him to die again in a few hours or days, but actually it took several weeks. When I woke up today I saw the display was blank again so I started writing this review. Interestingly, as I was writing this, the alarm went off exactly on schedule, even with a blank display. No button press would turn off the alarm. What's even more interesting is that the alarm clock actually "woke up" the display. All numbers are displayed again, but only the backlight works. I'm sure I could mess with the battery again and get the watch working again for hours, days, or maybe even weeks, but this is a terrible product experience. It's not even worth bothering with an RMA.

Pros

Cons
  • poorly thought out
