I understand why reviewers are disappointed with this camera. I bought it because I am not happy with the color in pictures taken with my Canon Elph. I was looking for spot shots with more vibrant colors in the frame and this camera worked well for that. Just got back from a weekend trip to try it and it delivers really vivid colors. I am very happy with it. Quality and sharpness are also very good. I only tested it with 20 megapixels, but I am very satisfied with the shots of the goalkeeper. Disappointing shutter lag. You can never be sure that the image you want is what you will receive. I think this is because the data is recorded at 20 megapixels, which can cause a delay in the result. There is an "Actions" setting that I haven't tried yet, so maybe that solves it a bit. Also, I don't have very strong hands. I can't blame the camera for blurry images. I make sure to leave the camera in place until I see an image on the overview screen, I think that might help. If the photo is really important to me, I'll take 4 or 5 identical shots to make sure I get a good shot. This works well for me, although it can make cleaning up a lot easier when I get home. For me, however, it's worth it. My best advice is to be patient, recognize that you may not capture every shot (you never did before digital capture anyway), and familiarize yourself with all the settings. The flash is great! In my opinion, the camera is worth the money.
